Welcome to the Puttin' on the Ritz School of Dance!
Puttin' On The Ritz School of Dance was established by Robin Oaks and Teresa Eversole in 1985 in Austin, Indiana. Two years later, the studio moved to Hanover, where it continued for many years. In 2001, Puttin' On The Ritz joined with Karens Dance Studio in Madison, Indiana. Today, Puttin' On The Ritz continues their long established tradition of teaching tap, jazz, and ballet as combination classes (ages 3+) in both Madison and Salem, Indiana.

-
What shoes do the students need?Students will need both tap and ballet shoes. Students on the competition team will need jazz shoes but do not have to have ballet shoes.
-
Does the monthly fee decrease if a student is absent for a few weeks? No. Whether a student is at class on week or all four, the monthly fee stays the same.
-
Do students in the 6th grade or higher have to compete? No! It is completely up to them!
-
Where can I get dance shoes? You can sometimes get tap and ballet shoes for children at stores like Payless or Walmart, but not always. We have both new and used shoes for sale and can order more sizes as needed.
-
How old does a student have to be to be on the competition team?We allow students in 6th grade and older to be a part of our competition team.
-
Can we bring snacks?Students are welcome to bring something to drink but we ask that they do not bring food to class.
-
Can parents stay and watch the students practice? We try to keep the parents from watching in on classes because it can be distracting for the students. However, there is a waiting room at the Madison location for the parents to sit and wait if they like.
-
How much do recital costumes cost?We try to keep the price at about $65 but they can sometimes be more expensive for older classes.
-
Is there a dress code? No. Students are allowed to wear whatever they want as long as it is easy to move in. Many of the younger students like to wear tutus but it is not a requirement.
-
How will we know if class is cancelled because of weather?Class cancelations due to weather will be the same as Salem Schools for Salem classes and Madison Consolidated Schools for Madison classes. We will also try to put a notification on our website and Facebook page.
